Our Managing Lawyer in Austin

Dick Brown is in charge of our Austin office.  A UT graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Dick was reared in San Antonio where his father was a general practice lawyer and then a District Judge and his mother was a speech therapist.  Third in birth order, Dick is the oldest of his parent’s three surviving children.  Dick and his wife, Cinda, attend the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin and try to spend as much time as they can with their friends, family, and daughters at their families' vacation homes on the Guadalupe River in Hunt and in Boulder, Colorado.

Dick Brown with his family

Their daughters are Melissa, a graduate of Texas A&M University and a Registered Veterinary Technician living and practicing in the western suburbs of Houston, and Lucinda, a freshman at Stetson University in northern Florida.  Cinda, who is Marketing Director for The Mangold Group CPAs, PC, comes from Houston, where her father, both of her grandfathers, all of her uncles, and lots of her cousins are lawyers.

After many years of traveling all over the U.S. and the world helping corporate clients, Dick decided to stay at home and travel for pleasure.  He has restricted his law practice to helping individuals and small business owners to deal with today and plan for their and their families’ future.

As a graduate mechanical engineer, Dick worked in Washington, D.C. for the Naval Air Systems Command and in San Antonio for the Air Force Logistics Command before he began his law studies at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio.

On graduating from law school in 1972, Dick became a fourth generation Texas lawyer.  After more than ten years of practice in San Antonio, Dick moved to Austin in 1984 and is in charge of our Austin office.

Dick is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and for many years has held the coveted Martindale-Hubbell "AV" peer rating.  He is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas, the Society of Fiunancial Service Professionals, the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Austin Bar Association, and Wealth Counsel and is a founding member of the Wealth Advisors Forum.  A member of the bar of the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dick is fully licensed to represent clients in any Texas court.

Dick is a member of the Leadership Austin Essentials Program Class of 1997-98, the Rotary Club of Austin, and the Texas Cavaliers.  He has served on the Board of Directors of Ballet Austin and Believe in Me and is on the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Austin  His hobbies include gardening, collecting old maps, hiking, and photography.
